Cannock’s first three points of the season!!
Cannock travelled to Shropshire on Sunday to take on top of the table Allscott. With several key players injured, manager Lee Aston had to reshuffle his pack.
On a hot September afternoon it was the away side that were more assertive putting immediate pressure on Allscott. Gemma Moss was up against her old side for the first time but was well supported by Helen Tonks, Fiona Nicolls and Gemma Wood. Laura Bailey had chances but just could not find the net. Cannock went ahead just before half time when a hand ball in the box allowed Helen Tonks to score from the spot. From the restart Jo Slucutt gained possession and put Jo Richards through to neatly finish the move and give the away side a 2 goal lead at half time.
In the second period the back four of Michelle Darby, Sarah Jones, Jo Slucutt and Claire Pemberton all put in a sterling performance. Cannock went three up when a cross from Jones was cushion headed back by Moss for Richards to score her second of the afternoon.
Allscott pulled one back from the penalty spot after a dubious hand ball decision. All three substitutes Nicky Page, Emma Danks and Sophie Nuttall all contributed in the second half.
