IMPORTANT UPDATES...!!

Due to internet maintenance the site has not been updated for a while but normal service is now resumed.

Updates...

We have had a few fixtures postponed due to the weather but these will be re-arranged and we will be informed by the league fixture secretary ASAP so please watch this space.

We have a couple a new signings to welcome to our club - Gemma McSweeney and Holly Austin. They will both be great players for our club development.

We all know that now the league table has been updated it does not reflect our performances throughout the season so far. As a club we have come along way and gained excellent players - our team spirit is second-to-none. We have not had the luck like many other clubs have had against us but all is looking postive in camp for our remanining matches of the season!! Let's hope lady luck shines on us and also the sun for Sunday and remaining games (fingers crossed)!!

Finally, congratulations to Jo and Steve on their forthcoming marriage in May. All the CLFC committee and players would like to wish them both well for their future!!

How could the most important thing nearly be forgotten...?!? We are looking to organise a night out in Birmingham during the Easter break. Again, watch this space for more details.

REMEMBER  - Our guestbook is still available to use so please continue to post messages as it is our club and we make it what it is today!!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!!

From All at Cannock Ladies FC!!

16/12/2009 - Cannock could not hold their lead!!

Cannock could not hold the lead!!

Cannock entertained Bradwell knowing only their best against a 'different' looking Bradwell was needed.

The first half started with Cannock playing the ball around Bradwell back four and Gemma Horne managed to get through one-on-one but her shot went just over the bar.

In the 25th minute a pass by Helen Tonks sent Claire Pemberton through and her shot went straight in for her first goal of the season! This was followed by a smartly taken chance by Gemma Moss to put Cannock up 2-0.

Bradwell slowly came back into the game but this is how the score line stopped until half-time.

The first 8 minutes of the second half seemed as if Cannock never started and they let Bradwell play with too much freedom. This resulted in Bradwell scoring three goals to bring the score line to 2-3 although Bradwell's third goal resulted with Cannock's keeper Hannah Waddell going off and Gemma Horne stepped into goal.

Cannock did start to get back into the game but as they were pushing for an equaliser Bradwell broke to make it 4-3 and that is how the match finished.

Bradwell won the game due to the Cannock squad not being ready for the second half and this game was three points wasted!!

Even though Cannock lie towards the bottom of the league table the team spirit is second to none and this will get us through!

The committee would like to wish all the ladies a 'Merry Christmas' and a 'Happy New Year'!!

P.S Not too much eating and drinking!!

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - GEMMA HORNE (DECIDED BY THE OPPOSITION)

06/12/2009 - A result worth waiting for!!

A result worth waiting for!!

Cannock well and truly entertained their local rivals Lichfield Diamonds knowing their past history and Cannock had to play their best.

During the first half both teams played with passion but had nothing to show. This seemed to be the case for the entire first 45 minutes.

The second half Cannock showed their true colours by dominating with consistant effort, determination and a desire to win. Cannock created at least 6 clear cut opportunities but still with no goals being scored. The only and what was to be the winning goal was scored by Gemma Horne from another superb cross from Helen Tonks to make it 1-0.

Again, Cannock went on to have numerous chances but with no outcome. With the game in its final few seconds Diamonds broke but Karen Clough was matched by keeper Hannah Waddell to make sure Cannock bagged all 3 points.

A clean sheet and a top team performance was well deserved and credit must go to Helen Tonks and Gemma Wood amongst others for keeping their discipline throughout the game where tackles were unpunished.

Manager Lee Aston after the match quoted - "I will be going home to enjoy my Stella (the beer!!) accompanied with some sweet grapes!"

PLAYER OF THE MATCH - HANNAH WADDELL (DECIDED BY THE OPPOSITION)

03/12/2009 - Cannock's hat-trick just not enough!!

Cannock's hat-trick just not enough!!

Cannock travelled to mid table Kidderminster knowing that 3 points were so important. Having two players drop out on Sunday morning and having another line up in defence, the preparation was not the best!

kidderminster started strong and Cannock started slow in all departments. After 10 minutes Cannock were 2-0 down with 2 good goals form D. Harris. Kidderminster were looking dangerous everytime they attacked but against the run of play Gemma Horne scored a quality left footed goal from 25 yards then only for Kiddy to reply again through D. Harris' hat-trick.

Cannock made a switch with Nicola Page going to centre back and Sarah Jones to right back. This seemed to settle Cannock and just before the break a rare header from Horne made the score line 3-2 at half-time.

Cannock again came out slow and were punished early on in the second half with a scrambled goal to take the score to 4-2. After this Cannock settled and started to play good football. After good work from Laura Bailey Cannock earned a penalty and Horne converted it to earn her hat-trick and get the score to 4-3.

Both teams had chances towards the end of the game but the game finshed 4-3.

The game was played by two teams who play hard and honest football...just a pity we lost!!
