Cannock's good run comes to an end!!

Cannock's good run of form came to an end on Sunday when Kidderminster ran out winners in a close fought game.

The visitors found themselves a goal down after 3 minutes and went two down after Jenny Clews conceded a penalty. Cannock pulled one back when Laura Bailey cut inside the Harriers defence to beat the keeper.

After the interval Kidderminster scored twice more so things were looking ominous for the visitors. Nina Baker came on as sub and immediately started to tease the Kiddy defence, passing to Sarah Bailey who scored from just inside the box.

Cannock were full of momentum and the home side camped in thier own half. Lou Hudson crossed in from the wing for who else but super sub Nina Baker to Score from close range.

Staffs County Cup - Quarter Final

Cannock Town Ladies continued their winning ways, when they knocked out local rivals, Walsall Ladies in extra time.

It was not all plain sailing for Cannock however, as Walsall pressured their goal in the first half, hitting the crossbar twice, and then having another shot off the post. Cannock’s opening goal, came from Leanne Derry, who’s left foot cross deceived the advancing Walsall keeper.

Walsall came back in the second half and equalised, to send the game into extra time.

Cannock’s winner, came from a Leanne Derry corner, which the Walsall defence failed to clear, and Nina Baker managed to latch on to the bouncing  ball and slammed it into the net.

Cannock now progress to the Semi-Finals, for the first time in their history. WELL DONE LADIES!!
